The National Museum of Bhutan, Ta Dzong, announces the launch of its second artist collaboration exhibition, inaugurated by His Excellency Lyonpo Tshering, Home Minister. This showcase, featuring the exceptional talents of Tandin Wangdi and Passang, will be open to the public from October 16, 2024, to January 15, 2025.
This exhibition presents a captivating blend of traditional and contemporary Bhutanese art, demonstrating the dynamic evolution of the nation's cultural expressions. Visitors will be treated to Tandin Wangdi’s acclaimed mixed-media paintings and Passang’s masterfully intricate wood carvings. This collaboration not only merges traditional and modern artistic techniques but also fosters a platform for cultural dialogue.
Artist Profiles:
Tandin Wangdi, from Jazhina, Paro, has evolved his artistic style over nearly two decades. Initially trained in Traditional Thangka Paintings by his father, Tandin has seamlessly transitioned to contemporary art, creating a unique fusion that has garnered him widespread recognition, including first prize at the 20th National Design and Art Competition in 2022 and participation in a collaborative exhibit with VAST BHUTAN in 2021.
Passang, a skilled wood carver from Jimthang, Punakha, completed his education at the Trashiyangtse Institute for Zorig Chusum between 2014 and 2015. His work spans both traditional and innovative wood carving projects, contributing significantly to the field.
